 A Series rebored Engine Sizes

Putting in Calver 998 +60thou pistons to rebored cylinders lifts the engine size from 998cc to 1046cc…..a 5% uplift but what’s the impact on power output? We’ll see when finished I guess!

Head:

Ported intake and exhaust, including removal of valve stem bosses. Enlarged combustion chamber opening up valve head to wall.

Shortened manifold spacer from carb onto Minispares intake manifold. Superlite exhaust manifold LCB 1.75” exhaust, wrapped. Single centre rear RC40 box.

Enlarged inlet? valves (1.25”?) with hardened seats. Double sprung on standard rockers.

Skimmed to keep 10.1 compression ratio.


Block:

Rebored to +60thou to take Keith Calver flat top pistons.

SW5 Swiftune camshaft . Balanced Duplex timing gear and chain.

Lightened flywheel, strengthened centre strap, braced water jacked caps.


Fueling/ignition:

Carb stock AAE needle tuned up by AC Dodd

Carb scrubbed and ultrasonic clean

All new seals, gaskets, jets, seats and needles.

K&N air filter with ram pipe.

New mechanical fuel pump 

Dizzy - 59D metro 419830? With standard weights & springs. Cleaned and re-lubricated. Luminition electronic points. Set at 11 or 13 degrees advance.


Gearbox:

Standard gear ratios, new shims, bearings, detents, 2nd gear and synchros. 4 pin differential.

Centre oil pickup plus magnetic oil trap before pump (back of block).
