Front subframe finished

The front subframe has been fully stripped of rust and paint in my ‘shonky’ shot blast cabinet….it worked a treat!

A little bit if wire brush work after shot blasting and it’s ready for welding and paint!

The original front lower engine stay fixing had cracked. Here’s my fabricated replacement which is MUCH stronger U channel from  Discovery. Shaped, cleaned and ready to weld.

Welded the stay fixing point plus the tower tops, a known weak point….so I welded all the way round whilst it was stripped. Welded some gussets too, because I could!

Primed and ready for top coat (hammerite of course!).

And the finished article…5 coats and ready to rebuild the suspension on.
